Coming soon to our roads Peugeot recently announced that Malaysia has been chosen to be its regional production hub, they had announced that there will be 5 new models set for launch this year. Typically, Malaysia will be producing most of the right handed drive cars. The collaboration with Naza is where they will be producing cars for the ASEAN region which might include other ‘neighbouring’ countries like Australia, New Zealand and South Africa as well.
Announcing the company’s new identity, Nicolas Wertans, the deputy managing director said that the T33 compact sedan model will be the first to be exported to Indonesia and Thailand. He added that a new team has since been formed from the company’s headquarters in France and will be coming over to study the market where they are looking to understand the buyers’ expectations here.
Wertans added that the 5 models which are scheduled to be launched this year would be the 3008 which is a crossover vehicle, the 5008 which is typically an MPV. The 308CC will also be launched this year which is a highly anticipated soft top coupe vehicle. The RCZ is a compact sports coupe version while you can also be ready for the T33 sedan as well.
If you think that we are getting the ‘old’ models, then you are gravely wrong because all the models which are set to be manufactured here are of the latest in their product lines. Of course you might have seen some of the models already but the RCZ, well that is one model which have yet to be launched in UK even while the 408 has just been launched in China.
Last year alone in Asia, Peugeot’s sales have increased by 45% and this would surely be one of their new and promising directions moving forward. It is also the most appropriate time for them to launch their new ‘Motion & Emotion” identity as well.
