Gone are the days when the Suzuki Vitara came in funky colours and is one of the more bubbly vehicles around. It was then purple, pink and the chic colours which you might least expect. And if you are looking for something of a higher grade you would go for the Grand Vitara, which is what Suzuki has repositioned this to be today. The new 2010 Suzuki Grand Vitara now comes with some very nice features. As you will notice, the Grand Vitara is set to compete with the bigger SUVs from the other brand manufacturers like the Honda CR-V , the Volkswagen Tiguan as well as the Subaru Forester and Ford Escape as well. Hence, it looks as if Suzuki is positioning this model among the more expensive models.
To begin with, the 5 seater compact SUV comes with a side-hinged rear cargo door which is available in 2 engine variants. You can choose either the 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine which is mated with either the 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission gearbox which boost out 166 horses or to go a step higher, you could get the 3.2 liter version which is powered through its V6 engine and paired with a 5 speed automatic transmission gearbox that gets you up to 230 horsepower. Apart from that, you could also choose between the 2 rear-wheel drive system or the all-wheel drive version which is available in 2 variants namely the single-mode AWD or the ‘Four Mode’ AWD.
Choice wise, you could also choose between the various trim levels like the Base, Premium, Special Edition, XSport or the Limited Editions. The Base, Special Edition and Premium ones come standard with the rear-wheel drive system and are all fitted with the 2.4 liter version while the XSport and the Limited edition is where you get to choose between any of the 2 engine variants.
Safety features are pretty standard in where you get traction control, ABS, curtain and front side airbags as well as a newly added navigation system while a wireless communication system for your mobile phone is also an option here. On the XSport and the Limited editions, you will get the standard features like a sunroof, a keyless access and engine start system as well as real-time traffic information on the navigation system while the Limited edition also comes with leather upholstery and heated front seats as well.
