The 2009 Skoda Octavia Scout is not a simple car. To be honest, it is one of the more sophisticated models in its segment. the Czech Republic car brand from Volkswagen surely is not the more popular choices here although it enjoys great success in countries from Europe and around this region as well. As we mentioned before, Skoda is one of the car brands which are not commonly seen around our roads but like it or not, it is being sold and do have a representative office here.
The compact SUV wagon is one which comes with the all-wheel drive system which typically is the 4Motion system, made famous and developed by Volkswagen. The car comes with a 2.0 liter turbo-diesel engine which comes with a 103kW at 4,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 320Nm at 1,750rpm. It is mated with a 6 speed manual transmission which can be pretty economical in ever sense.
Positioned against the Toyota RAV4 or the Nissan X-Trail (diesel versions), the Octavia Scout might not be the best of choices here probably due to the fact that it is a ‘less popular’ brand but if you put the models head to head, you might that the Skoda do actually stand out on its own. As it is a subsidiary company of Volkswagen, many reviewers do get the feeling that it do reflect the design of the German car makers inside. In fact, so much so that the claims are pretty much validated with the switch controls and other knobs which are ‘imported’ directly from them. Apart from that, the mirrors and power windows too are direct imports as well.
Other similar fittings here include the leather steering wheel, gear knob, eats and pedals too are brought in through the Passat and Bora from Volkswagen as well. On top of that, you also get height adjustments for the front seats and the steering wheel too. You also get an 8 speaker CD player with MP3 capabilities, automatic wipers as well. Safety wise, you will get ABS, Electronic Stability Program and Anti-Slip Regulation as well as 6 airbags. Besides the large cargo space, you will surely appreciate its 4Motion all-wheel drive system. The thing is, the Volkswagen DNA is very apparent here but then that is a good thing, isn’t it?
