• US President Barack Obama’s former Chrysler 300C for sale for US$1m on eBay

Every once in a while, something interesting pops up in eBay and one of the latest items put up for sale is a 2005 Chrysler 300C.

It is sold for USD1million by ‘cubfanatic23’ and the reason for the high price tag of this somewhat ‘common’ car is because it was previously used by US President Barack Obama.

According to the advertisement, the 300C was used by Obama when he was the State Senator of Illinois which was before he became the most powerful man in the planet. The mileage raked in by Obama was at 19,000 miles and the seller has the original Illinois title to prove that it was the former car of the current US President. Obama took ownership of the 300C in 2004 when it was still brand new and only clocked in 2 miles.

Hence, the mileage is believed to be part of his campaigning between Springfield and Chicago where he was running for the presidency where he eventually bought a Ford Escape Hybrid in 2007 after being criticized for being not too eco-friendly in his car choices. According to the seller, both the advertisement and the price tag is not a joke as there have been other similar sales like the £1.5million sale of the 1977 Peugeot 504 formerly driven by the President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad while the former 1975 Ford Escort GL previously owned by Pope John Paul II was sold for $690,000.
