Suzuki has announced today thier plans for a new production hub in India and along with expansion plans.Suzuki also presents the new A-Star Concept, which will be shown to the public at the 2008 New Delhi Auto Show in January next year, destined to become Suzuki's new compact global car.
The Suzuki A-Star Concept will be produced in India and exported to Europe and beyond and will be Euro 5 compliant. A-Star Concept points to the design direction which leads us to believe this may just be the new Suzuki Alto which is scheduled its global debut at Geneva in March 2008.
India is an important market for Suzuki, outselling Japan in the first half of 2007, and the Murati Suzuki partnership (Indian government and Suzuki) will be capable of producing 1 million units by 2010/2011.
The small Suzuki Alto compact car is currently the number one car in India in terms of sales and is priced between 2.59 lakh to 3.13 lakh Indian rupees and its sold nearly 18,000 units a month on average.
