In what is seen as one of the most anticipated revelations this year, Mitsubishi recently launched the 2009 Ralliart at the Detroit Motor Show. Deemed as the ‘hybrid' between the Mistubishi Lancer and the Evolution X, the Ralliart version comes with the ever so famous 2.0 liter DOHC MIVEC turbocharged engine.

Followers of the Mitsubishi Lancer series will be all too familiar with this version as most have gone through various re-designs and upgrades. The Evolution series too would have won enough votes to welcome this new model.

Running at an intercooled 235 horsepowers, the engine comes with the Twin Clutched-SST gearbox. As with the earlier models, this comes with the fully automatic or the paddle-shifter gears.

Its full time four-wheel drive, which features Active Center Differential comes with great impressions, a new look that is far more aggressive than the sedan version. Its new front and rear bumper designs, the dual outlet muffler and the light aluminium ducted hood are all welcoming additions to the already well received model. The ACD uses an electronically controlled multi plate clutch center differerential, boosting the vectoring drive torque to the front and rear to suit various driving scenarios. Typically, this is to provide the best balance between the steering wheel and the traction of the tyres in different surfaces.

The Lancer Ralliart, with its efficient power transmission provides a speed sensation like no other. It is well fitted with the novelties like the hands free telephone interface, FAST key, and optional items include Recaro seats, HID headlights, a Rockford Fosgate powered sound system and power sunroofs.
